‘New Annual Gripper Inspection’ Requirement

Beginning next season, all curlers will be required to have their grippers inspected annually, similar to a vehicle inspection. The inspection fee will be $8.00 per gripper.

If a gripper is deemed worn, cracked, shiny, slippery, or “questionable at best”, it must be replaced before stepping onto the ice surface. No exceptions.

The reason for this new inspection program is due to increased dirt and debris being tracked onto the ice, which has been traced primarily to vintage grippers still in circulation from the early 2000s.

Inspection stickers will be applied to approved grippers. Members without a current sticker may be required to:

* Deliver from the lobby

* Sweep the entire sheet before play

* Or watch from the warm room
